Literature Reflection:

When I first wrote this review I was still unsure of the direction my Action Research project.  I understood what I was looking for in the literature, but I had no idea how I was going to apply that in my classroom.  The literature that I reviewed supported what I already felt to be true.  Technology alone will not increase motivation and learning, and teachers who are not properly trained will not buy into using technology.  Students are more comfortable using technology than most of their teachers are, but it doesn’t mean that they know the best ways to use technology to increase their learning.  Proper teacher and student training, combined with meaningful learning objectives using technology will increase both student motivation and performance.

.

Abstract:

The purpose of my research is to show how the integration of technology tools into classroom instruction will increase motivation and authentic learning in students. The literature that I reviewed showed positive results in motivation and learning when technology and Web 2.0 tools are used in the classroom.  My project demonstrates how these tools can be used to improve basic learning skills.  These tools can be used in new ways to make real connections for the students that will ensure authentic learning takes place.  I hope that my results and the body of my work will encourage other teachers to begin the process of integrating technology into their daily routine, thereby improving the total learning experience for their students.

Proof of Submission to Present:

Reflection:

I chose the Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference as a test run.  The conference does totally fit my research, and two of the guest speakers are actually technology experts that I’ve started following in the blogosphere because of FSO and the EMDT program!  The conference that I really want to present at is the National Science Teacher’s Conference in 2013 in Atlanta, GA.  An NSTA conference is the first place I saw how technology could be used in the classroom, and I’d really like the chance to give back to that group.  Plus, I’ve been a member for 15 years now and I’m not sure I’ve really contributed anything…except my money!  They will start accepting proposals again in September, I would like to fine tune my presentation and submit it again at that time.
